Jonny Wright

Jonny is a writer for screen and stage. He was selected for Channel 4’s prestigious 4screenwriting course in 2019. He was awarded the Felix Dexter Bursary in 2017 by BBC Comedy and off the back of that had a sitcom commissioned by the BBC. He has also written an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball for Cartoon Network and was commissioned to write a sketch for CBBC’s Class Dismissed. He has received three commissions from Immediate Theatre, a commission from Rattling Stick and Seed Commissions from the Talawa Theatre and the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Jonny has recently been in a variety of TV writers’ rooms and currently has a comedy in development with Bonafide films, dramas in development with Firebird and Castlefield and a feature film in development with the BFI. He is also under commission from Sky to write an original comedy drama pilot for his show Punchline. Jonny also acts and is a hip-hop artist. He has been in a Mike Leigh film and is currently under commission from The Royal & Derngate to write a hip-hop musical.
