Novelist and freelance writer
Okechukwu Nzelu is a novelist and freelance writer based in Manchester. His two novels, The Private Joys of Nnenna Maloney and Here Again Now won and were shortlisted for a range of awards. In 2024, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. In 2025, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Kingston University, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to literature and reading pleasure. He is a non-executive director of ALCS and CLA, and is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Lancaster University.
