Shelley Silas writes for theatre, radio and television, and has also written a number of short stories. Her stage plays include ShrapnelFallingCalcutta KosherMercy Fine and Eating Ice Cream on Gaza Beach. Plays for BBC Radio 4 include A Dead Weight and Dead Cert for Val McDermid’s DEAD series. She compiled, edited and contributed to the anthology Twelve Days (Virago). Her VR short The Turning Forest, directed by Oscar Raby, was selected for a plethora of international film festivals. It won the 2016 TVB Europe Award for Best Achievement in Sound. Shelley was writer in residence at the Bush Theatre, and at Clean Break theatre company, and has taught for the Arvon Foundation and the National Youth Theatre. She is a patron of Diversity Role Models, which actively seeks to embed inclusion and empathy in the next generation and work towards a world where everyone embraces diversity.
