Man Friday

For BBC radio 4, the writer Edson Burton has re-imagined Daniel Defoe’s eighteenth century English adventure novel, Robinson Crusoe, from the perspective of Man Friday, now called Kofi. The island is as foreign to Kofi as it is to the shipwrecked Crusoe. WritersMosaic‘s Gabriel Gbadamosi talks to Burton about the contemporary resonances in his new drama and about the commonality of both men Kofi and Crusoe who share a sense of loneliness and abandonment.
