Marie worked for aid agencies while running her own women-led counselling service. She is the only one of the writers in this edition who has moved just once since 2021 – evacuated from her family home in Kabul to an apartment in Siegen-Wittgenstein, Germany; she moved alone. Her story ‘The Café’ was published in Moveable Type in 2023. Marie is a contributor to My Pen Is the Wing of a Bird (MacLehose Press, 2021), Rising After the Fall (Scholastic, 2023) and My Dear Kabul (Coronet 2024).
