Margaret Busby honoured for sterling work in publishing

Pioneering publisher receives a lifetime achievement award at the London Book Fair.
7th July 2021

The indefatigable and innovative Ghanaian-born publisher, editor and writer, Margaret Busby CBE, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Presented at this year’s London Book Fair by Zadie Smith and Bernardine Evaristo, the award ‘recognises an individual who has made a truly significant mark in the sphere of global publishing.’ The youthful, seventy-seven-year-old Busby first drew the British public’s attention more than fifty years ago, when she co-founded the publishing company, Allison and Busby. She has since published and edited numerous books, most recently in 2019, New Daughters of Africa: An International Anthology of Writing by Women of African Descent. Busby will be interviewed by Burt Caesar for WritersMosaic in Spotlight at the end of July.
