Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi and Patrice Lawrence win Jhalak Prizes

Recognising excellent work by British and British-resident writers of colour since its inception in 2016, the Jhalak Prize added the Children’s and Young Adult Prize in 2020. Uniquely, the Jhalak Prize celebrates writing across genre and format.
Each writer was awarded £1,000 and the specially commissioned trophies created by artists Amber Khokhar and Ruthine Burton, respectively.
Patrice Lawrence appears in next week’s WritersMosaic, as our profiled author.
